I’m back! And I’m in total compliance. :)
UPDATE 2015-02-08: So apparently, Madwire was able to get my entire hosting account taken down with a court order resulting from a defamation claim. But this post will return, albeit slightly altered to protect my hosting account from being shut down again.
In the meantime, the court ruling contains all the content in question, including all the Madwire Reviews and Madwire Complaints and there’s a copy of it here: http://cvweb.clerk.leon.fl.us/cvimage/official_records/download_document.asp?book=4729&page=01970&type=OR&jwuser=&subnet= (it takes a few minutes to load because it’s around 6MB and 60 pages)
Also, notice: the Affidavit of Diligent Search, mentioned on page 2, is conspicuously missing from the evidence. I wonder if that was an accident. I think not.
To Madwire: just let it slide! Everytime I update the content here, I move up in search results! It’s called the Streisand Effect: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect
And frankly, I’m sick of this post and having to keep changing it after account suspensions (I think this the 4th time!). But I wont go dark. It’s a matter of principle.
To anyone wishing to read my post as it appeared in December of 2014, including the comments, it’s stored at the WayBack Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20141208100043/https://andrewapeterson.com/2013/12/warning-madwire-media-madwire-360-behind-the-veil-of-seo-and-astroturf
NOPE! this has been taken down :)
Meanwhile, I must disable comments on this post for the moment, while I remove some content ruled by a Florida court to be defamatory.

When you see XXXXX stuff, it’s words I needed to delete from the below content in order to be compliant with the court order.
[update 2015-01-11] I heard through the internet that Madwire is no longer using a non-disparagement bit in their standard contract.  This is good news if it’s true, but I have no way of knowing for sure if it is true.  So if you have any info on this, please comment!  This post is here to help other people.  So if you can help me keep the info up to date, since I have great SEO power concerning Madwire, you will help other people.  Please do comment. Is this real? It’s a link about madwire’s change of policy. Thanks, everyone, for contributing. We may be making a difference here!
[update 2014-09-26] Madwire has appeared to have filed, in a Florida court, a “Complaint for Declaratory Judgement,” against an anonymous person whom, according to the document, HERE (a PDF) is one of my my commenters below. This appears to be a way that Madwire can get Google and other search engines to un-index this blog post, Madwire’s Yelp! page and a few other search results where this anonymous person has posted.  So apparently, one of my commenters is the defendant known as “John Doe 1” in the filing (Madwire is referred to as the “Plaintiff”).  And I just noticed that Madwire’s Yelp! page suddenly has a meta noindex tag (<meta name=”robots” content=”noindex”>) on it and no longer comes up in Google search results for ‘Madwire Reviews.’ So I guess Yelp! is cooperating with Madwire for whatever reason.  I’ve always had pretty positive feelings about Yelp! despite all the recent negative hype about them, but if they’re willing to hide negative reviews, it certainly decreases their value as a consumer awareness product.  Also, I was assuming that at some point Madwire would contact me or at least post a comment on this post, but so far it appears that they’d rather try to control their reputation through back channels.  Interesting.  To Madwire: I know you guys are looking at this.  Don’t you have anything to say?
[update 2014-06-14:] My site has been taken down again over this post. This time it was ripoffreport.com that sent my hosting company a DMCA Takedown.  Their claim is that my ‘fair use’ quotation of negative Madwire reviews from their site (which contained attribution) was a copyright infringement!  So I had to remove several negative reviews/stories concerning madwire.  To the next reviews site considering sending a takedown or threat: you are only making this post more visible! Every time it’s edited/updated, it gains value in google serps.
[edit 2014-05-07:]Pissed Consumer sent my hosting company a DMCA takedown notice for this post, due to me quoting negative reviews for Madwire. I’m pretty sure this post is fair use, but my hosting company wont stick up for me  so I had to delete the pissedconsumer reviews in order to get my site back online.  I’ve linked to the originals.  Keep in mind, original bad reviews on pissedconsumer.com are often hidden on the page  and you have to click ‘read the complaint’ to see what you’re looking for.

Original post starts here.

The other day I posted about a friend’s personal experience with MADWIRE, which was horrible to say the least.

I’ve become kind of fascinated by how well this company appears to have created a facade of positive reviews and press, making them seem like a great company to hire.

It’s actually quite difficult to find anyone out there saying anything bad about them, which is a bit suspicious (even the companies I love the best are getting flamed occasionally).  So I’ve been doing some deep googling and I’ve found a lot of stuff that not only sounds more credible and like real people wrote it, but that’s also totally consistent with my experience.

So let the SEO battle begin!  I have great Google mojo with my blog.  And my goal here is to make the world-wide neighborhood a better, safer place.  So here is a compilation of what I’ve found about Madwire that may not be so easy for most people to find, since the search results for things like “madwire reviews” and even “madwire negative reviews” are so cluttered with astroturf.

From the Madwire / Marketing360 Better Business Bureau pages:

Complaint #1: 10/10/2013

Complaint: We paid for two months of Search Engine Optimization & AdWords for our company website through Madwire Media. We never reached the top of the search engines, we received 1 potential customer who filled out our “Contact Us” form, that was it. We paid $750 a month for a total of $1450.00 plus Madwire has tried to pull more money out of our account without authorization. They have added all these additional fees and now are threatening to take us to collections. They promised us a “free” website, they put it up for us but once we cancelled our marketing through them, they posted our website as “ACCOUNT SUSPENDED” which reflected horribly and lost us potential customers from consumers that were directed to our site through our own advertising means. We called them and asked them to put the website back up but they said they wouldn’t unless we paid for the hosting through them but it was a ridiculous amount. The website was supposed to belong to us but they wouldn’t give it to us without paying for their hosting (we already have hosting through someone else). We were offered so much and received nothing but headaches.

Desired Settlement: My desired settlement would be a refund of all money paid, $1450. They didn’t deliver on ANY of their promises. They said we would be on the top of the internet searches, which didn’t happen. Also, we didn’t get to keep the website. We were much better off than before we ever started with Madwire. From what I have read on the internet, we are not the only company that Madwire has scammed. Since internet marketing is so vague, they are able to take advantage of many consumers.

Business Response: Attached is the contract for reference and a receipt of refund. I talked with the client about the contract and services that we provided. We have already made a refund in the amount of $720.00 and we are not moving forward with collections on the remaining part of the contract.

Business Response: An email was sent to ‘*********************’ on 8/21 outlining the details of the contract as well as additional. Also an email was forwarded to ****************** on 8/23.

Consumer Response: Complaint: *******

I am rejecting this response because: they did NOT give me a refund, they just didn’t charge me after I cancelled my account. It’s not that I MISUNDERSTOOD anything (like Jerry’s letter refers), it is that they are rude, did nothing with all the money we gave them and used our “credits” on what? We don’t know! They are a scam and I am demanding full refund. I will keep  on warning other potential customers  about their misdeeds b/c no one deserves to lose $1500 on absolutely nothing, especially when you are a small business, like us.

******** ******

Business Response:
That should do it. One is the contract which speaks to what the consumer was complaining about. All of the information is in there. And the other is an invoice for a refund. This client signed 6 month contract to which we were going to send to collections for early cancellation 2 months in on the contract. Upon receiving the email they filed a complaint with the BBB. In addition we invested $3K dollars of time on a website as part of the agreement. Outlined within the contract it talks about early cancellation with the option of hosting. They disregarded all emails. We took the site down that we own for nonpayment. Not only did we not pursue collections for breach of contract after speaking with ******** we also gave them a refund. It is unfortunate how this process works.

15 Day Collection Letter sent 7/31/13
30 Day Collection Letter sent 8/15/2013

If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out to me.

BBB’s Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved

Complaint #2: 9/16/2013

Complaint: In June of 2013, Madwire Media Reviews contacted me and performed high pressure sales tactics to get me to sign a contract with them. They asked me to give them a large sum of money to start the campaign, which included web design, marketing, seo, and pay per click ads. They made all kinds of promises to which they were not able to hold up to. They promised a good web design and I get a mediocre, at best, design. Their site is beautiful and they said mine would be similar. They lied. They also told me that I would have 100% control of my website and be able to host it on my own server. Another lie. They have control of my website and I can’t make changes because I can’t access the backend. Madwire Media promised me 15-20 calls per day, based on my budget and the keywords targeting for my niche. Another lie. My campaign has been running for over two months and I have received two calls in that time period. Once call I actually booked the job, a $60 job, 45 miles out of my territory. I did the job anyway because my business, my name, and my reputation are at stake. They filled me full of their lies and promises in order to get me sign a contract and give them my payment info. I have done one job in the two months since my campaign started with Madwire Media and when I asked for a refund, they refused. They are not familiar with my industry and are targeting the wrong keywords that aren’t remotely targeted to my industry and they are charging me a premium rate and expect me to keep paying them $2500 per month for services NOT rendered. This fraudulent company needs to be exposed for who they are.

Desired Settlement: I want 100% of my money back. In my business, if a customer is not happy with the work, I redo it for free. If they are still not happy, I refund their money because my reputation is at stake. They promised me I could get my money back yet they refused to refund it when I asked.

BBB’s Final Determination: Consumer accepted resolution offered by the business.

Complaint #3: 9/5/2013

Complaint: I was told that there was NO contracts by several people, several different times before starting my marketing and web design with Madwire Media. **** ******** and ******* ***** both had stated that there is no contracts, until we no longer wanted to use there services after three months of very poor results and NO service. They told us one thing and had us sign documents that were supposedly forms that gave them permission to edit and change our current webpage, little did we know in the small print they lock you into a 6 month contract. This is the most dishonest and rude company that I have ever come across. We would like this matter resolved before we have to hand things over to our lawyers. Please Advise

Desired Settlement: I would like this to be resolved quickly and professionally, I would like for the remaining time and money in our contract to be wiped clear and the harassing phone calls and emails to STOP. I cant believe that there are companies out there like this that LIE and DECIEVE people to make a living.

Business Response: I spoke with ****** and addressed the concerns over the contract and client was satisfied.

BBB’s Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved

Now on to Yelp! where MADWire currently has ONLY negative reviews [2014-10-07: this has changed. Now Madwire has one star on yelp but yelp appears to have cooperated with Madwire in burrying their page. Yelp put a noindex tag on Madwire’s one-star page so it wont show up in search results]:

Just the fact that another reviewer is saying “I’ don’t know what this guy is talking about” and then you can’t find that review gives you an indication of how many people are not happy with XXXX XXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX XXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXX XXX XXXX. Once they have your XXXXXX XXXX – XXX XXX XXXXXXXX XX X XXXXXXX XXXXX. XXX XXXXX XXXX XXXXX XXXXXXXX XX XXXXXX XXXXXXX. it is nice looking with great images and graphics but no one can find it. XXXX XXXX X XXXX XXXX XXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXX…..and i suspect many bad reviews have been deleted here because they are misssing from here…….what does that tell you? Yelp took money to get those taken off…….hmmm let’s see how long this review lasts….

BUYER BEWARE!!! I am not kidding you, if you choose to use MadWire360 or Mad wire media or whatever they go by (hint it will have 360 in it somewhere) You are XXXXXXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XX XXX XXXX!! They know how to market their site and unfortunately the talent ends there.. After they smooth talk you into their wonderful service and pass you off to some “Specialist” SEO person, you become just another credit card paying their overpriced fees.. I was with them 3 months and not one lead!!! i spent over 7k and got zip from it!! All i can say is stay away and remember, Pay per click is cheaper than these guys and SEO just means blog on your own site!! Save your cash…

When it comes to SEO it doesn’t get much worse than MadWire Media! XXXX XXX XX XXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXX XXXXX XXXXXXXX XX XXXX XXX XXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XX XXXXXXXXXX. Not only that, I had previously left a review on their Google listing along with close to 10 other dissatisfied customers and their listing has seemed to magically disappear along with all of the negative reviews. They obviously try their hardest to hide how bad they suck. I couldn’t seem to find any other SEO companies that had to do such things. These guys are bottom of the barrel! They provide unnecessary services and XXXX XXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXX or they just don’t care about their clients. Whichever it is, it would be wise to steer clear of this company.

Just when I thought all my issues with Madwire were well behind, I got rid of them over a year ago, they recently started billing my card for someone else’s website! It’s pretty scary that they have kept my credit card information on file well over a year after firing them. Not only that, the billing information is now completely different from when we used them, so obviously they don’t even bother with AVS. I guess why would you bother when I’m pretty sure keeping actively old clients’ card info on file if probably illegal and definitely unethical. The fact that they are so XXXXXXXXXXX that they start to bill me instead of a competitor’s account is absolutely ridiculous.

Originally we had Madwire design a logo, website, and manage some seo work. Problems started from the start. They could never get the logo right and I ended up having to hire someone else to provide custom artwork to be used in the logo. For the amount I was paying them for logo design I expected custom and original work. What I received was below par with no effort or creativity behind it. It was as if I hired one of the $4 an hour guys off oDesk but at 20 times the cost.

Now when it came to the website I was already pretty leary of them from the logo design part of the package. The beginning part of the web design was a complete nightmare. The project manager wouldn’t even respond to my requests or questions. I had to contact the supervisor and complain. I was assigned a new project manager to take over the design, or lack thereof. As a side note, the previous project manager is still employed there. The new project manager handled everything much better, however they really pumped the site out quickly due to the job being way behind and there were little errors I had to pester them about to get fixed.

The next disaster came their SEO package. When we signed up for all of this work to be done it was actually an SEO package. When the site was up and running they said they no longer do that and it is now a Madnoodle package where you are listed and gift cards go up for penny auction. Now, SEO-wise this did nothing for our website. This really didn’t even help sales either. We would pay them, they would buy these gift cards from us to post on their Madnoodle site, and then customers would use the gift cards to buy products on our site. It was usually the same people who would buy these gift cards so no new customers were being attracted. Plus these same customers haven’t returned after using these gift cards that we basically bought for them. I should also note the penny auctions were a giant fail and they no longer do this.

My advice is to steer clear of this company. If you don’t you will definitely regret it! Just when I thought all our problems with them were over with… Hope you enjoy the chargeback fees!

Edit 2/14/14: These jerks still have not completely removed my information! I still get invoice emails monthly for their crappy plugins I don’t use. Granted, the invoices are for $0.00, but just stop! I’ve already asked for our information to be completely removed but of course they can’t comply.

To touch on the management responses on some of these reviews (Boo hoo hoo Yelp is being mean to us, these reviews are fake, blah, blah blah). How about you actually listen and fix your company instead of complaining? These negative reviews are sticking because more negatives come from real Yelp accounts, compared to the many positives that are from accounts who have only reviewed Madwire and then never logged in again. Which ones do you think look fake to Yelp? Oh, and just because someone has a fake name doesn’t mean their review is fake either.

Worst business decision I’ve ever made. DO NOT USE THEM! They will sell you and do a great job selling you. XX XX XXX XXXX. They are hard to work with, never responding, never making changes. It took WEEKS for them to make ONE small edit. They say they will create banners for your website, they are ugly and horrible. I even sent them pictures of what I liked. I finally had to pay someone to do it right. So much money wasted.

I agree with the review that said “$5,000, and not a single client.” This is how I felt when I was using this company. It is true that they XXXXXXXXXXX XXX XXXXXXXXXXXX. When I finally questioned them why I only got ONE client in 3 months, they said “well, lets try another thing.” I am not paying for trial and error. I pay them to know what they are doing. Working with Madwire has been one of our companies biggest mistakes! It has been over a year and a half and we still do not have a finished product. We have gone through 3 programmers and it seems like they just keep wasting our marketing departments time. We spent a significant amount of money and expected a certain amount of service. They have not delivered. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. From truckmountforums.com (apparently madwire’s sales team targets people’s carpet cleaning business?)

Attention fellow carpet cleaners. I am posting this to warn everyone of a XXXX being pulled by Madwire Media. I posted a while back, asking if anyone had any experience with them. I didn’t receive very much info so I assumed they were legit. I should have done more research and I didn’t, and now I’m paying for it. So, I am here to expose these XXXXXX and make sure none of you get XXXXXX XXX. Please watch my videos, subscribe, and share so that we can expose these XXXXXX and hopefully prevent anyone else from making the same mistake I did and losing their entire business to XXXXXXXXXXXX XXX XXXXXXXXX companies like Madwire Media. I will not stand idly by as they XXX people off and are not held accountable for it. In my business, if a customer is not happy with the work performed, I will redo it at no charge. If they are still not happy, I will refund their money. Why? Because my name, my business, and my reputation are at stake and I don’t want any of it tarnished over a few dollars. Madwire Media does not feel the same. They think it’s ok to XXXXX XXXX XXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXX. XXXX XXXXX XXX XX XX XXX, as long as you get the sale. Please, I ask all of you to help with my plight. From scamgroup.com

Took my entire advertising budget and single handedly almost bankrupt me.

On May 28th, Karen Brennan with Madwire Media sent me an email but claimed to be from CarpetCleaningMarketing360.com. Now this is one of many of their niche scam sites that they have. Over the course of a month she called and called and called. Finally I decided to listen to her and what she told me sounded amazing. She made all kinds of promises about me getting 15-20 calls per day with their marketing and seo. Well I was just starting a business and decided to go with Madwire Media because I simply didn’t have time to go out and actually do the work I needed to do on top of trying to market and advertise. Karen told me that based on the amount of monthly Google searches for my keywords, I would get 15-20 calls per day and I figured I should at least book 2-3 of them. So I sent them a large some of money, my entire advertising budget based on the promises made.
Fast forward to the date of this report. My campaign has been running for over 2 months now. I got one call in 2 months and it was a $60 job, 45 miles from me. They are targeting niche long tail keywords that are barely related to my industry and get very few searches. My seo campaign is horrible. They have control of my website and can lock me out at any time. XXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXXX XX XXXX.
Now in the meantime, I have had my phones turned off and I literally cannot pay my bills. I gave them my entire advertising budget because they promised me a big jumpstart in business and promised I would be busy. XXXXX XXX XXXXX XXX XXXXXXX that do NOT know what they are doing,One thing they should have thought about before XXXXXXXXX XX XXXXX and destroying my business…… I was an seo guy for 7 years, I am a single father with 3 children and this is my lively hood. I put my entire savings into my idea and they single handedly destroyed it. So, I have made it my mission to make sure they don’t XXX anyone else off. I am broke, getting ready to have equipment repossessed if I can’t sell something to make the payment, I have resorted to applying for emergency food stamps to feed my children until I can recoop something or until my seo efforts pay off.
I have asked them for a refund several times and they have refused, therefore, I am going to make sure they never steal from another company or person that needs seo work or internet marketing services.
Madwire Media has gone around to all these review sites including ripoff report and have posted fake positive reviews because of all the negative reviews they are receiving. They are paying these companies like yelp and ripoff report to remove negative reviews so they can keep their Madwire Media Review XXXXX up.They XXXXXXXXX my business, I have nothing left to lose. I will make it my plight in life to shut these XXXXXXXXX down. I hope that Scam Group will help shut these guys down before before someone else loses their life savings to these XXXX artists. XXXXXXX XXXXX XXX XXXXXXXX XXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXX. I will not sit by idly and let them XXXXX from others.

From a comment on one of MADWire’s own YouTube videos

Be very careful about using Madwire Media. We spent over $3k with them and didnt get 1 single client. Our website had images missing and took 7 weeks to complete rather then the 14 days we were told. If you do want to use them make sure you record every telephone conversation you have with them and get everything the sales person tells you in writing!! Do your research before using Madwire Media! There appears to be a consistantly to the negitive feedback which tells its own story!!

There were similar testimonials on some other youtube videos I found last night, but they’ve been deleted.

Now on to RIPOFFREPORT.com

It seems that when you get a negative review on ripoffreport.com, you can pay to have it covered up!  For instance, with Madwire, if you search for “madwire reviews” you certainly find ripoffreport, but the titles are negative and review copy is a boilerplate positive thing put there by ripoffreport!  Dubious.  I finally found a few of the original bad reviews at ripoffreport

The Registrant of all these domains appears to be John Kellogg who is also the CFO of a company called Traders Network or tradersnetwork.com which shares the same address as Madwire. I’m not sure but John Kellogg may be the same person as Joe Kellogg and/or JB Kellogg.

WARNING: MADWire Media, Marketing 360: Behind the veil of SEO and Astroturf
I've become kind of fascinated by how well this company appears to have created a facade of positive reviews and press, making them seem like a great company to hire. It's actually quite difficult to find anyone out there saying anything bad about them, which is a bit suspicious. So I've been doing some deep googling and I've found a lot of stuff that not only sounds more credible and like real people wrote it, but that's also totally consistent with my experience.

  1. For those doing their due diligence on the Madwire Media Reviews, please see this link and look how they are ripping off carpet cleaners. Madwire needs to be held accountable. This poor guy is out of business. He went under because of them.

  2. Wow. I actually am the owner of one of the complaints listed. I despise this company. They ruined my business. I no longer have my business, equipment, or home. I did a search for Madwire Media Review so that I could see what these XXXX XXXXXXX are up to. Of course in this reply, I am using the same keywords they are using to try and combat all the negative reviews left by pissed of customers. Well, to all you pissed off customers that have been ripped off by the Madwire Media Scam, I am here to help SEO the shit out of your negative reviews so that other consumers don’t get ripped off by Madwire Media Reviews.

They did refund my money, but only after they realized that I knew my stuff, SEO to be exact, and would take them down. Madwire Media SEO is a scam and they threatened to sue me when I posted videos and did my own SEO to expose the XXXXXXX XXXXX XXXXXXX XXXX XXXXX.

This is 100% true and will hopefully be sworn in court one day soon with a class action lawsuit against these XXX XXXXXXX.

I almost killed myself because XXXX XXXXXXXXX XX XXXXXXXX and by the time I recovered my money, it was too late and all my bills were way past due. I lost everything and was desperate because I gave them all my money and had no money coming in because of their XXXXX XXX XXXXXXXX. XXXXXXXX XXXX made me sign away my rights to all my posts, videos, and reviews so that they could claim ownership, contact the review sites and have the negative Madwire Media reviews removed. Well it looks as though they are just ripping of too many people now and I no longer have anything left to lose, so I am going to do my own seo to help bring these XXXXXX down. They took everything from me, refunded my money, tied my hands so that I can’t leave negative reviews, and now I’m done. I don’t care if they sue me because I no longer have a dime to my name, a home, a car, or anything else. I am starting my life over now because of these XXXXXXXX.

If anyone reading this comment actually needs REAL seo done, send me a message. I will do on page SEO on one page for FREE to prove myself, as opposed to the XXXXXXX XXXXX XXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX. I will stop this XXXX, and I will not stop doing SEO against them until they close their doors and refund everyone that has complained against them.

I charge $500 per month for local seo for up to 200 keywords with a guarantee. Add video seo at $50 per video. Email me at dokken AT gmail dot com if you have any questions about the Madwire Media XXXX or if you need real seo work done. I am on of the first clients of Madwire Media that was able to get a refund and that actually started all this to take these XXXXXX down. I hope others will do their due diligence and research the Madwire 360 reviews so that they don’t get ripped off as well.

  3. Madwire is the worst. It’s been 6 months of dealing with them. They are some of the worst designers a scammers I know of.

  4. Note: from a consumer doing his research about this company. No association with madwire media/marketing 360. Just a local guy looking for some marketing help.

I have been able to find a lot of the negative reviews elsewhere about madwire. I have also seen the positive ones. Yes, the positive ones sometimes feel as though they were written by robots. I’m sure that a lot of those reviews are fake ones and only created to help the reputation of this company. However, on the opposite side I am also blown away by the dramatic responses about this company on the negative side of things. Half of the negative reviews I have read are simply folks ranting, and putting blame for things on a company that couldn’t and shouldn’t have been their fault. You lost your house because of madwire? Highly unlikely, you need to be smarter with your personal finances. A marketing firm didn’t cause you to loose your house.
just like you said in this post, every company has some negative feedback. But honestly after reading this post, I feel like some are going to extreme extents to fulfill a personal vendetta against madwire media. You claim the positive reviews sound like robots, and yet your persistent up keep on this company just comes off as a childish rant. You are no more professional or less shady than you claim madwire to be.
I wouldn’t be suprised if my reply here gets filtered through your system, which makes you guilty of the very think that you are pointing fingers at this company for.
The world of business anymore is more about attacking other business rather than helping consumers. Very disappointing.

  5. David,
    Thanks for writing.
I’m all about transparency, so I’m not going to filter a comment, just because the commenter is insulting me or I disagree with them.

Yes, some people are indeed going to extremes to fulfull a vendetta against Madwire. But I’m not one of those people. The commenters on this post are real people as far as I know and yes, some of the comments seem a bit dramatic, but you should know that the commenters here only represent a small fraction of the number of people I’ve heard from. And it’s what I’ve heard from all those people that informs my decision about whether or not I should be apologetic to Madwire. That, and of course my own experience.

When I posted this, they had approximately 4 stars on Yelp, and there wasn’t a single negative review of them within the first 3-4 pages of google results that was easy to find. Hypothetically speaking (ahem) after posting this, they hypothetically withdrew a legal threat against someone who knows someone I know, in exchange for me taking this down. In other words, hypothetically, they wanted ~6,000 from someone in order for them to not sue that person (extortion) but backed away from that threat in exchange for this post going away. This post is hypothetically worth ~$6,000 to them apparently. And they hypothetically have no reservations about bullying a small business owner for ~$6000, so hypothetically I have no reservations about telling the world that that’s what they did. And since then, my website has been taken down a few times over this post, which is inconvenient to me, but I’m doing this for a good reason: to protect people from getting screwed over.

I’m not shady at all. I’m wide open and I care about people and I care about the world we live in. Madwire appears to me to be trying to cover their tracks through legal channels and threats. That’s shady!!

Lying about your identity online is shady. I’m here. I’m Andrew A. Peterson. I’m out in the open. As we speak, a company is filing stuff in courts over something on my blog while the comments are wide open. They could just speak up for themselves but they’d rather spend money on legal fees Etc to cover things up. Why would they do that? Why not just come out and talk?

And why do you care, David? Did they build you a super awesome website? Are you a big fan of theirs? Who are you and what’s it to you?

  6. OMG, they are soooooo BAD!!! I have worked for 3 SEO companies doing cold-calling and thay were all bullsh!t so I am not new to this scam! But when I saw Marketing 360 I was like wow these guys have got it done solid. I signed one of my clients on for $495/month and let me tell you what a failure that was. holy cow. unfriednly service. terrible website deisgn.. ppshhhh “UXI” what a joke it UX/UI you dumb nuts. And now to see the way they cover up there mistakes. wow. just wow. terrbile.

I’m a newer business owner and searched many different web developers before choosing madwire. After speaking with madwire sales, they sounded like a good options, but I was completely wrong. Madwire is great at marketing/selling themselves, but horrible at doing the same for you. They over promise and do not deliver. Being a newer business owner I had very little marketing budget and Madwire sucked it up, and completely wasted it. I saw 0% return on my investment! I had to handwalk them through every step of the development process, spending hours of my time to make sure all typos were fixed, and there were A LOT. I spent thousands of dollars because they were suppose to be the experts, if I would have known then what I know now, I would have saved myself over $3000 and built it myself. Now I’m having to spend several thousand more to have another site built by a reputable company. When I called with concerns or issues about my site, I was informed that I wasn’t paying for the website, that is was “free”, and that I was paying for marketing and paid advertising, and I received no help.

Learn from my mistake, DO NOT hire madwire. There are many other reviews out there that say the same thing as mine. Do your homework, and don’t get burned like we did! This business should NOT have an A rating!

I will say one thing for them though, their staff is very nice, but I didn’t pay thousands of dollars for someone to be nice to me, I needed results.

  8. I am just at the end of a long 7 month contract with Madwire and lost all of my savings and am now $3000 more in debt on my credit cards. They got me locked in to a 6 month contract with another 30 days to cancel and I’m still paying. Since February 15th I have paid $3000 and in that I got one customer at $500. I’ve been so totally ripped off by these people. I put in over $10,000 and have only loss and debt to show for it. I wish I’d seen the negative reviews before I started. If there is a way to get a refund please advise as I am desperate at this point. And also to David, who thinks people claiming they’re losing everything is a farse, it’s not when you have someone taking thousands of dollars out of your bank account and no business coming in! I’m in serious jeopardy of losing everything at this point as my savings is gone and no money is coming in!

  9. Andrew,

I am an attorney and just reviewed the court order that you have linked to your blog. It is not a ruling on the merits as the defendant remained anonymous and was never served with any documents (other than publication in a Florida newspaper.) So there has been no finding in a court of law – at least in this suit – based on any evidence. Madwire got a judgment by default because the defendant was never personally served nor responded to the complaint. When that happens, the court will grant whatever the plaintiff requests. Thanks

  10. I hired Madwire to build two websites. It was not a pleasant experience working with them. After lots of headaches JB did finally try to help. He took ownership of the problems however at that point I was at the end of 6 months, my entire budget was spent, and I was out of money.

The other reason for my negative rating is that Madwire spends time trying to made bad review go away, They attack free speech, use lawsuits to silence their critics, and build their own raining sites (like topratedlocal.com)

I would suggest looking elsewhere for a web developer and marketing company.

  11. This site is pathetic for real. I agree with David and yes I am doing research as well. It seems like if any of these people are actual customers they are terrible business people. I mean come on you lost your house, you are going bankrupt, you can’t pay your bills. In really looking at this it is very clear that in creating this post you and the others are trying to extort this company, it is really sad. It is funny how you (Andrew Peterson) talk about how you care about people and that you are in the open when the reality of the fact is you come off as a cyber stalker and cyber bully or you would make an attempt to post something positive as well. It makes no sense why you would try and pray on another company to benefit yourself? It really is a sad case that people like you have access to computers and have the ability to post anything. I am surprised you kept David’s post up and I am sure this one will be deleted. I feel sorry for you man you need to seek counseling you obviously are not stable and don’t know the first thing about running a business or internet marketing. If you did, you would create a product that competes with the likes of Madwire and your friend that you said used them would have never went to them. I am curious your “Friend” why didn’t they use you? Can you even build something that people actually want not some collection of fake online reviews that clearly are defamation and slander, real tough guy. Another funny thing about this is did you ever do business with them? So how do you know anything about them? The answer is you don’t I assume.

This company clearly has a great product and you are jealous and incapable I believe that is the truth here. What do you do when your competitor takes market share. Create a website that promotes slander, defamation, and lies. Yahoo Andrew good job!

  12. Thanks, Billy, for your input. I don’t agree with you about what you claim my intentions are. Good luck!

  13. I was reading more about you, wow man for real, the crap on the internet about you. You claim to do SEO but I cannot find you anywhere on the internet and work that you have done, is that a lie? Who have you done work for? Something else I find very peculiar you are asking for donations, what the hell would the donation go to? Pretty sleazy man…. You would think someone so smart would figure out a way to monetize there site other than a donation button, pretty hilarious. Do people really donate money to you?

  14. This is for Billy. I read your post tonight and it made my stomach turn. I’ve never seen such vicious, vitriolic crap. What are you doing here? You clearly are NOT a Madwire customer. More than likely you are a Madwire employee. Andrew has been courageous enough to create a place where people can speak out about their experiences even though there are people like you – cowards who hide in the shadows – and try to bully and intimidate. Madwire must pay high commissions to get guys like you to lie and knowingly cheat people. Don’t show up here again. No one wants to hear from you!

  15. Dana,
Honestly I don’t mind people posting weird and aggressive comments here. It kind of just validates the need for this post. It is kind of strange though.

  16. Dana/Andrew I hope that you have had a chance to clean up your keyboard that you threw up all over as a result of my post and your stomach being sick, wow you people are drinking the Kool-Aid…. How did what I say turn your stomach are we in china where you can’t ask someone to prove what they are claiming to be true? You claim to be an SEO expert, you claim to have web experience, so prove it. Show that you can do anything other than act like a competitor and try and hurt other people’s business. Just like you claim your “Friend” used them but know where do you mention mention how this “Friend” is seeing great results now that they are using you. And interestingly enough Andrew posted a review about this company in August very similar to what his “Friend” had said, although that review never made it on this site and then ironically enough this site was put together where you can see a bunch of reviews about this company and oh by the way donate to me I do SEO as a competitor… It sounds fishy…. I wonder how many other profiles on here are fake like Danas? Like I said before you claim to do SEO but I can’t see that you can be trusted with anyone’s business. Here is his review that I found back in August.

Andrew A. P. Santa Rosa, CA, 0 friends no surprise here,
    Stay away.
    Aggressive and misleading sales people.
    They over-promise and under-deliver.

And they generally don’t do web design as work for hire, which means they own the site you pay them to build for you.

Don’t sign a contract with them without reading every word ver carefully.

Andrew you claim to have done business with this company but you switch your story up above and say it was a “friend”… It is starting to make sense…. If it talks like duck, walks like a duck, it probably is a duck…..

Dana first off I know you are not Dana and your real name is Andrew so for the sake of not having to go back and forth switching names let’s just get it right, Dana/Andrew one in the same. Nice delay on the time between posts. You must really take people as being stupid….

Courage is not building some site where competitors can go bash a company, that is the definition of gutless, the definition for those reading “lacking courage or determination”. Courage is going into a burning building knowing you might die. Courage is hanging on the cross dying for your sins. Courage is fighting for your country leaving your family in order to preserve the rights and beliefs of what you stand for. Courage is standing up to Goliath with just a stone in your hand. Courage is jumping out of a helicopter to rescue someone that can’t swim in freezing waters. Courage is building a business from the ground up and employing hundreds of people all on your acts and decisions. Courage is standing up to people who try and tear your down. Courage is a little kid that is abused and faces their accuser and is victorious, how can you even compare….. Furthermore no one is oppressing anyone….

So let’s get it right nothing that this site stands for is courage it is actually gutless. Furthermore no one is hiding in the shadows. It is amazing how when someone stands up to a bully to the likes of Andrew that they are attacked. Once again Andrew… Show us some of your SEO work, a portfolio page of clients you have helped, maybe a case study of how you helped grow someone’s business, maybe a testimonial of someone that has used you and likes the work you have done, where is it at? Oh but donate some money to me.

Dana/Andrew one in the same should feel disgusted, but you don’t because you thrive on destruction.
I have a small business and am looking to find someone to market my business which lead me here and I have had people like you use review sites and forums to create and fabricate lies because they don’t know the first thing about anything other than trying to destroy another person’s business. And that is sickening truly.. The fact of the matter I hate BULLIES and this site is an example of a predator trying to bully and extort someone which is what should make you “sick to your stomach”, quoting Andrew…

It is clear Andrew wrote a review as himself then turns around and claims it is his “Friend” the friend he never mentions again and then all of sudden some lady named Dana is sick to her stomach and the hero Andrew swoops in acting as if it’s ok, “I embrace this feedback that’s why this post is here”… All the while leaving out anything that is truthful in the process. Oh and by the way I am a competitor reach out to me I can help you and interestingly enough a lot of the other reviews on here are competitors as well or people claiming to do SEO.

What is interesting to me is why the hell would someone who claims to have an SEO business go to another company do the very service they are experts in? Anybody? Anybody? Does that make sense? If I owned a car wash I am not going to go to my competitor to wash my car, if it is what I am good at? And I sure the hell am not going to be mad at him if it didn’t turn out right… Does that make any sense?

And last nothing on here is aggressive it is a request to show proof of the work you claim to be good at and the justification for someone to donate a cent to the cause? If that makes you sick to your stomach you might want to go and buy some pepto bismol because you are in for a rough road in this world. Once again who is this friend? Show us some SEO/Web development work, does it exist?

And just in case the post doesn’t stay up I have my own post created to help people be aware of the cyber bullies and cyber stalkers of the world….. http://billygunslinger.blogspot.com/2015/03/andrew-peterson-review.html

  17. Billy, why is it so hard to believe madwire might not be a good company to work with. I have voice recordings of them bullying me when i tried to end the contract. your taking things to far so chances are you work for mad wire. I think its time to share the recordings for andrew to post

  18. Thanks for posting the link to their Yelp account – they don’t link to it on their website and I couldn’t pull it up using a regular search on Yelp.

  19. Is it just me, or is “Billy” using the same tactics a certain company we shall not name has been using for anyone speaking out in dissent? Coincidence?

  20. Hi just 2 weeks ago singed the contact with Marketing 360, for marketing my business with high price, after seeing this page, i’m scared what will happen next… is there any advise can i get from you all.

  21. I wish we would have seen this before. This company is HORRIBLE!!! We have been dealing with some whopper of some stuff with them. Right now, we are trying to get our $ back that they charged us after we had fulfilled our 30 day notice of cancellation. They are making us sign a contract that we won’t write a negative review about them, which we are refusing to sign…we are planning on going to the bank and filing a dispute to get the money back, to which they are threatening their legal team to sic on us. Madwire company is ridiculous. I can’t wait to add to the myriad of bad reviews here. They have been total snakes, cheats, liars, devious and many other words along that line.

  22. If you have been damaged by Madwire Media feel free to leave your contact info.
This company has wronged many. There are remedies coming. If you believe you have claim against Madwire Media or Marketing 360 someone will contact you. What this company does is not morally correct nor even a fair business practice. The right legal team is about to put this company in its place.

  23. Wow I dodged a bullet. I don’t know that I would have done business with them but I was considering it. Glad I found this forum. In my brief discussions with them, several red flags arose.
So Sorry for the loss and bad experience for many of you.

  24. Found it interesting that when I asked questions by email I would always get a phone call with the answers. Never any written response to pertinent questions.

  25. Thank you all for contributing to this site. If it wasn’t for all of the horrible and well hidden reviews (warnings really) I would be in the same boat as many of you. I was ready to sign up with them tomorrow morning until my wife found this site. You saved us

  26. DO NOT SIGN THE CONTRACT WITH THEM.Liar ,Provide wrong information.information. Im filing law suite against them .They have damaged 10k to my business .They paid $100 to google but charged us $1300.I will Stop these guys and will put them into the news .Already spoke to NBC they are going to arrange appointment .

  27. Jinger,
If you’re trying to promote your own seo review site, I wish you the best of luck on getting your site going, unless you plan on accepting payments from seo’s to burry their negative reviews, but at any rate, if you own that site, please don’t promote it here under the false pretense of being aligned with other commenters, and especially don’t pretend to be someone else (a person that just “found” that site). If that’s what you’re doing, you are making the web a worse place.
In the future, just be honest about who you are and what you’re trying to do. There’s nothing wrong with promoting an idea you believe in, unless, of course, there’s something wrong with what you’re doing and you need to sell it in a dishonest way.

If I got it wrong, and you aren’t affiliated with that site, all I can say is that it doesn’t look to me like the best place to focus any effort.

Good luck. I may remove your link. Thinking about it.

  28. I guess I should have provided more details. They used to do SEO on our website which I am very hesitant to post here as the contract we signed with them makes it seem as though we could face legal action if we’re speaking out against them. Up until a few months ago. Our site wasn’t getting any results after nearly a year of service so I started snooping around for reviews on MadWire and found this site. We had been suckered in bacuase they were supposedly e-commerce experts. Anyway, I came across that review site top10seoco.com while looking for a new SEO company and thought I would share it so that more people had a better chance at finding information on MadWire.

  29. Also, is there any way you can remove my email address from my original post. I don’t want MadWire having any chance of figuring out who I am.

  30. I will have to agree with the above comments. We signed a 6 month contract last Feb, was paying 2600 a month. I had a website already built with VP and needed marketing for our business to help bring us to the top listings. It took two months before our site went live and we was getting calls from out of the state, when we was only targeting 25 mile radius. I felt horrible having to complain about it. They literately copy and pasted all my wordage from my VP site and added a theme color and blogs. I had asked for pictures and reviews and other things to be listed an never was. I will say after 6 months 15600 spent we got maybe 6,000 back from calls. And that is because in our industry one job could be 10K. We finished the contract out and just had them host the website for the 15 a month fee. Now 6 months later. My website totally shut down last weekend. I tried calling leaving emails and only response I got was from another rep that was filling in for the guy I deal with cause he was out of the office. When they took my old site over I had to give them all the information that VP gave me when I purchased the domain. I told them none of that stuff made sense to me and they stated they took care of it and they had me live but had to reroute my A recorders through cloudflare. Come to find out my Domain name expired, I was never instructed that I had to register it or transfer, only that they took care of it. Thank God I still had records of all calls through our business phone system, of every recorded call. Needless to say this weekend I spent 5k on marketing items with my website all over it, and it shut down. I did manage to go in and figure it all out and got it back up on my own. I still never got a call or email the following Monday. So I called them back and they said we see it was up so did not feel the need. But I did all the work, and even thou I am proud of myself it is sad that you don’t get what you are paying for. I am in the process now of getting my own website, still learning some things. But after reading this sight I hate that I am not the only one. I felt stupid because I was not educated on the SEO and how things run, and took it as I deserved for not learning myself. But it has been a big wake up call, and now I am learning everything I can. I wanted to login in to the back end of my website to update it myself, but it will not let me log in. I finally got intouch with the other rep and he reset my login. But when I put my info in it just clicks the page and nothing comes up. Its the correct login and does not say login fail, but will not load page. I am not sure if its because of internet explorer or what. All I want to do is get in and get my info so I can be done with this company. My hard earn money wasted and I don’t work this hard to just get by. If anyone knows what I am doing wrong logging in please let me know, since I have yet to get a response from anyone. What am I paying 14.99 for a month, is just a host! Any way I would not recommend this company to anyone. Its made me very hard to trust anyone in the marketing business. I just stick with paying for my clicks, at least I know my budget and whats working and not working. I am still with them so I didn’t want my info on anything, because I cant afford for my sight to just suddenly go down again. I am praying that I will have another ready by the weekend.

  31. I signed a contract with madwire and they did not deliver anything they promised. They wanted to give me a new website in place of my existing. somehow I paid them 4225.00 and got nothing from them. Finally I was able to cancel the contract early release) by signing they I do not say bad about them. But I dodged a complaint with BBB as I do not feel right what this company is doing. They are sure taking money from small businesses like us.

  32. Thanks to Madwire – I’m out of business. LIES! LIES! LIES! And I was sold on Madwire by my former online store / host – http://www.BigCommerce.com I asked BigCommerce why they would have recommended such a company – no reply. Thanks to Madwire and BigCommerce, I’m out of a job and on welfare. A BIG F U to BOTH companies!

  33. Lol @ “Billy” posting comments. “Billy” just makes the marketing360 company look even worse.

Anyone else find it funny that when you try to get pricing on marketing360’s site, they refuse to expose the pricing and instead make you fill out a form?

  34. Thank you for this site! I was doing my due diligence on Marketing 360*. Apparently I saved a lot of frustration and $$. As a small business owner with a limited budget, this could of been horrible!

  35. OMG thanks god i didnt sign with them yet….i was just about to do so next week!! i was just putting things together, this is crazy…they were asking 2300/month with a 6 month contract….their website looks goood so they almost sold me on it..
that being said does anyone have an idea about seosamba?i was debating between signing up with them or marketing 360.

If not who can I go with? any recommendation? or pay per click is the only thing working for a moving company….help please. i dont want to be throwing my money away.

  36. My friend, unfortunately I’m reading your caution message after dealing with this organization for three months and have seen nothing worth the over $6,000 paid thus far. How do I break with them. I see the contract states at least six months. Should I consult a lawyer. How did you get free from this sham? Thanks for posting this warning!

  37. I’m glad I found this site. The types of deals I’m reading about on here are super shady. These “free website” deals are a way for a company to keep your site if you ever decide to leave them. It ropes you in to a forever deal. In 6 months of SEO,a company builds links and citations to the site to help it rank. When you leave, they keep the site and the url with all of the links pointed at that site. The down side is that if you ever try to start over you will have a lot of inconsistent information about your business out there. That citation clean up would cost you thousands of dollars and countless hours of work. Anyone that doesn’t think that investing in a marketing campaign that gets no ROI, and robs you of your web presence at the end of a contract is out of their minds. It could cripple my multi-million dollar company with ease.

I was pretty close to having a meeting with these guys. They seemed nice and were persistent, which I like. I don’t know their process inside and out, and maybe some people get results with them. However, just a bit of advise. Never, and I mean never, agree to do business with anyone that retains the website code, url, or the number on the site. Also, be sure to always ask that any work done becomes your property when you move on.

Thank you for posting up this information. Some of the post here are disgusting, and they were obviously written by someone affiliated. No one would ever find this page unless they were a customer, a prospect or someone at Marketing 360 or Madwire.

  38. Marketing 360 – Madwire SUCKS!

Promising but not delivering. The waiting time to change photo the website is four weeks. They will promise you copywriters but their copywriters are from overseas, and the content is very poor. So what else you should expect? expcet great sharp sales person that will lead you to feel that they are going to do such a great job for you, however, don’t be surprised if behind those nice people, and they are nice people, there is nothing but rookies in marketing that expert in taking money of people that may not be experts or have a good idea in the digital world.

Botton line is – you like to be fooled by nice people, this will be perfect company for you, want to see ROI and buinsess groth stay away or pay $2300 disconnection fee!

  39. haha… I thought I was the only one. I hired Madwire to do some work for me a couple years ago. They had a killer website and their hand picked portfolio looked amazing. I was certain they’d be able to deliver the same great results for me. The web design price was $5000… a little steep, but I figured if their site looked great, they could do the same for me. I’m a web developer/designer myself and hired Madwire for a client. Unfortunately, my client had to pay $5000 to madwire and then several more thousand to me to fix the mess they left with my client. The design process was brain damage… every time madwire designers would submit a mockup, revision or final design, it was like… is this serious? are you guys messing with me? The design work was horrible. They clearly hire out the design of their own site as madwire designers don’t know ****** about design, website flow, color schemes, etc… In the end, I had to design the site and my client had to pay us both. Look past the lipstick, madwire is nothing but a pig who takes your money and invests it in more lipstick.

  40. Madwire Media-Marketing 360 is the worst company I have ever dealt with before. They are a total scam. They lie and cheat. I am real customer. Have a family to support. I started a small Accounting firm. They promised to really work with me. They are the worst company ever.

  41. Omg…how I didn’t check reviews before giving my hard earned 3K. I can testify the above is true because it happened to me too. I can’t believe this company is still in business. This 6 months hook up is terrible. Please, advise on how to handle this legally, I don’t have finances to hire a lawyer. Can anyone share the legal steps to go over unhooking from this 6 month agreement. Can they ruin your credit if you don’t pay them the early cancellation fee and send you to collections? I need HELP…I’m devastated !!!

  42. I am a new victim of this terrible company. They have such great reviews and they’re Google Partners. That’s very convincing to someone looking for help with their online business. They’re so nice while they’re scamming you on top of it. I wasn’t completely sure I was being scammed until I dug a little deeper and came across this great blog. Thank for this!

I recommend anyone who gets caught up with them to contact a website developer right away without any notice to Marketing 360. He or she might be able to get you out of your situation with your website and/or domain being held hostage. In my case, my website is with Shopify and I was able to remove their permissions to access the back end of it so at least they can’t touch my website now.

I also suggest you file a dispute with your credit card company.

Then cancel your credit card and get a new one.

Then contact Google to report them since they’re Google Partners. Google has high standards and should be notified a Partner is abusing their status.

Here’s where you can report them to Google:

I hope they’ll scam the wrong person soon and that person will be able to afford to take a lawsuit against this terrible company.
