Nice post, I agree that it&#039;s about cloud computing on portable devices, but I also think another factor is the mesh network that is possible.

We have to consider the portable devices are going to have huger and huger storage and faster and faster CPU&#039;s in them.  And if we use the &quot;cloud computing&quot; for location specific needs, then local mesh networks may appear that have even more streamlined connectivity.

For example, a phone call made across town could bounce form wifi to wifi via a collection of portables and not need any third party service at all.

Of course we all need to pay for internet for our portables, but that might not be all we rely on once this landscape really matures.
