I learned this from the Tekzilla Daily show (from Veronica Belmont who is way hot).
- type about:config into your firefox url address field.
- Right-click (or control-click if you’re on a mac) on the blank space
- Select “New” and from the sub-menu, ”Integer“
- Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay
- Set the value to 0 (zero)
This will make Firefox load webpages more like Safari does. You will see the page instantly and slower-loading parts of the page will come up later.

Thank you Andrew. My initial experience was *not* improved however – in fact, it felt like things slowed down (bogged down). I’m going to leave it in place for a while to see how it travels (it just might be a slow Net day.
